EU home affairs ministers on Friday (23 April) reached a political agreement on negotiations with the US regarding the use of European bank data when searching for terrorism funding.
The commission will start "exploratory talks" with the US in the coming days, home affairs commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom said at a press briefing in Brussels. Formal talks can only start on 10 May, when EU affairs ministers are to rubber-stamp the political agreement, she explained.
