Former French MEP in custody on corruption charges

Former French MEP Jean-Charles Marchiani is being held in custody on corruption charges.

He is being investigated for alleged misappropriation of funds and influence peddling, according to AFP.

He stands accused of taking money from sales of arms to middle east countries in the 1990s as well as obtaining cash from the release of hostages in Lebanon in 1988.
