The EU has hardened its position on keeping a strong Ukrainian army, amid US president Donald Trump's third attempt to get a Moscow-Kyiv peace deal. 

The European Court of Justice ruled on Tuesday that same-sex marriage lawfully conducted in one member state has to be recognised across the EU.
